Jen’s Gastric Sleeve

The Challenge

I weighed 70-80kg when I was 18. I started gaining weight after that and I was 150kgs for about 20years.

At 44 years of age I had high blood pressure, gallstones, kidney stones and arthritis in my joints. My weight was affecting me mentally and physically.

The heavier I became, the more depressed I became and I isolated myself from family, friends and the world. I would wake up in the morning and plan what I was going to eat that day. I would constantly eat and would not stop until I felt so full that I would feel sick and I would then have immense guilt and promise myself that tomorrow I would be better.

At work I came across as the typical jolly big person but in reality I was very depressed.

The Journey

I then had a big health scare where I was taken to hospital as they thought I was having a heart attack. It was enough to scare me from not just thinking about having bariatric surgery but to knowing I now had no option.

I came and saw the team at …. and I knew very quickly that these people would help me to change my life. I had a gastric sleeve July 2013 and to date I have lost 80kg.

I cannot thank the team at …. enough for the help and support they have given me throughout my journey.

Now I enjoy life

This has been life changing and life saving for me. I am now off the Merry-Go-Round of diets and now on the Ferris-Wheel of life enjoying the endless view.


