At Darebin Weight Loss Surgery, a team of experts in surgery for weight loss work together to provide comprehensive treatment and support for you. Our team comprises of specialist surgeons, dietitians, physicians, nurse specialists and psychologist. Exercise consultants are also incorporated into your care as required.

After surgery ongoing follow up is provided to help you achieve the best possible outcome. Regular review with the surgeon and ongoing support and care from the team means help is always at hand.

Dr. Ahmad Aly - MB.BS, FRACS, M.S

Ahmad is a general surgeon and specialist in upper gastrointestinal surgery with expertise in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and experience in a variety of surgical treatments for obesity including laparoscopic gastric banding., the intragastric balloon, and gastric bypass.

Merril Bohn, Caitlin Green and Fiona Sammut
Accredited Practicing Dietitians

Accredited practicing dietitians Merril, Caitlin and Fiona are a senior clinical dieticians with Austin Health who have a keen interest in Obesity surgery. Merril has been working with patients who have had weight loss surgery for 15 yrs and Fiona and Caitlin have many yrs experience as working in clinical dietetics and weight management. The dietitians work with you pre and post operatively providing important education and nutritional advice to help you make your surgery as successful as possible.

Both Merril and Fiona are members of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and associate members of Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand OSSANZ.

Dr. Stephen Warrillow - MB.BS, FRACP, FJFICM

Stephen is a specialist intensive care physician with expertise in peri-operative care. He has experience in caring for obese patients having surgical procedures as well as the management of chronic medical problems during the post-operative period.

Stephen holds consultant positions at The Austin and Northern Hospitals and works at Warringal Private Hospital and the Epworth Eastern Hospitals. Stephen and Ahmad work closely with each other both at Darebin Weight Loss Surgery and the Austin Hospital.

Shelley Lisle - Registered Nurse Division 1
Critical Care Certificate

Shelley is the practice manager and clinical nurse specialist at Darebin Weight Loss Surgery.

Shelley has extensive experience in clinical nursing, and case management and is a specialist in surgery for weight loss. Shelley will assist in preparing you for surgery to make it as smooth and safe as possible. She worked for many years at Warringal Private Hospital in various capacities including surgical case manager and is able to liaise closely with the hospital on your behalf.

Shelley is both a terrific resource person and a major point of contactfor patients both before and after surgery, and is always happy to help with questions.
